In the current situation with a shortage of nurses in the healthcare sector and an increasing life expectancy for patients with disabilities, our passion is to contribute to a sustainable change in healthcare through innovation.
The concept of Tidewave™ and the unique Tidewave Hug was originally invented in the early 1990s by Audun Haugs, an engineer and inventor from Bergen, Norway.
After a request from Haukeland Hospital for a solution to prevent pressure ulcers, he got the idea to use one of his existing patents: a gripping tool for the oil industry. By turning the tool around, the concept and prototypes of a curved and automated reversible mattress were born. However, due to his sudden passing, the process was put on hold.
Little did he know that in 2017, his granddaughter, Elen Haugs Langvik, would bring the concept back to life together with two fellow students, Bjørn Lorentzen and Nina Fagerheim Åmodt. A new company was formed, what is today Tidewave Medical.
Our products are developed, designed and thoroughly verified in close collaboration with patients, healthcare professionals and institutions. In this way, we ensure user-friendly solutions of the very best quality.
We are proud to say that our products are produced in our own neighborhood between the fjords of Norway.
